Bergenbier S.A. joins the Sustainability Board, accelerating a unique collaborative model for community development and urban regeneration initiatives
The Sustainability Board, a national program developed by Coca-Cola HBC Romania through the #DupăNoi sustainability platform, and the Federation of Community Foundations in Romania, with PENNY Romania as a strategic partner and the Prahova Community Foundation as a local partner, is expanding its team of partners with the addition of Bergenbier S.A. The company is becoming part of an innovative working model in which private organizations, local communities, NGOs, and public institutions work together to build real solutions to environmental challenges and social needs in Romania.
Bergenbier S.A.’s participation on the Board strengthens the program’s mission: to transform individual engagement into a collective force capable of generating positive change for people and the environment. This partnership confirms the private sector’s role as a structural partner in long-term initiatives with a direct impact on community development.
“For Bergenbier S.A., sustainability means caring for communities and taking responsibility for the environment in which we operate. Joining the Sustainability Board gives us the opportunity to reinforce these values and support the development of the community in Ploiești, where our brewery is located and where we contribute to the local economy. “This initiative builds on the sustainability and responsibility projects we have implemented over the years, and we are confident that together we will build impactful initiatives,”
says Ștefania Bătrînca, Interim CEE Communications & Corporate Affairs Director at Bergenbier S.A.
The Sustainability Board after its first year: over 1,300 beneficiaries, a community hub, and the first urban regeneration projects
The Sustainability Board, launched in January 2025 in Ploiești, operates on a collaborative model inspired by SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, bringing together private companies, NGOs, local authorities, and experts to identify real issues in communities and implement concrete solutions. In its first year of operation, the program developed and supported two major initiatives: CIVITECA and Sustainable in the Neighborhood.
Through CIVITECA, Ploiești’s first community hub, a space for dialogue, over 30 events and activities were organized, attended by more than 300 people from the local community, government officials, experts, NGOs, and civic groups. The space hosted educational workshops on sustainable living, capacity-building sessions for organizations, and over 60 hours of counseling dedicated to the local community.
In turn, the Sustainable Neighborhood program, through the four micro-grants offered to local NGOs, transformed community ideas into real actions: over 1,000 direct beneficiaries were involved in educational activities, workshops, planting initiatives, and urban regeneration projects. The interventions implemented in the neighborhoods, ranging from urban gardens and multifunctional green spaces to eco-hubs and youth-focused activities, mobilized the community and demonstrated that local solutions can generate sustainable change when supported by expertise and dedicated partners.
Bergenbier S.A., supporter of the new initiative dedicated to green spaces and urban regeneration
The new phase of the Sustainability Board begins with the addition of Bergenbier S.A., which will support a project dedicated to the regeneration and revitalization of green spaces in Ploiești. This initiative is developed through co-design sessions with neighborhood residents, experts, and local authorities, and its goal is to transform green spaces into places for connection, learning, recreation, and community initiatives. The project will focus on the quality of public spaces and their role in community health and cohesion.
