Project story

Launched in 2011, together with Tășuleasa Social, "The Educational Forest" was conceived as a living learning space, dedicated to children, young people, and educators who believe that the most important lessons are learned with hands in the soil and eyes on the forest.

The program ran until 2020 and, over the course of 10 editions, became an integral part of Tășuleasa Social's educational projects—a starting point for a generation that is learning to protect nature, not just admire it.

What we built together

The educational trail included 29 practical elements to help young people understand the role of clean water in nature, the relationship between water, people, and the forest, and how these three elements coexist and influence each other.

Over 400 volunteers from cities in Romania and abroad contributed to its development: Vatra Dornei, Bistrița, Dorna Candrenilor, Bacău, Galați, Bucharest, the Republic of Moldova, and Germany. Among them were biologists, rangers, sociologists, foresters, and passionate individuals who brought together their expertise, heart, and ideas.

A living space for learning

The "Pedagogical Forest" was designed as a classroom without walls, open to schools, youth groups, and families who wanted to learn about nature through direct interaction. The educational trail turned trees, water, and earth into teachers, and participants learned by touching, asking questions, and observing, out of curiosity and through involvement. The project also hosted international camps with participants from over 20 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Turkey, India, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, and Egypt.

Because sustainability begins with learning and continues with every conscious gesture, this living space helped participants become more aware and responsible towards the environment. It was the beginning of a journey in which lessons are learned step by step, together.
