A project that turned empty PET bottles into resources and winning opportunities.

Project story

In the year 2022, Coca-Cola HBC Romania, Auchan and GreenPoint Management, together with the NGO Viitor Plus, organised the "PETcollect and win" campaign. Customers could bring PET bottles to specially designated collection points in Auchan stores across the country, and each package submitted was registered and automatically entered into the prize campaign. 

PET bottles deposited in smart bins

For the campaign, smart collection machines made from 100% recycled cardboard were installed in Auchan stores across the country. Once the PET bottles were inserted, they were digitally registered by scanning a QR code, and participants could directly track how many bottles they had collected. 

Each bottle brought in meant a chance to win monthly raffles and the final prizes. But beyond the rewards, the campaign showed that recycling can be naturally integrated into the shopping routine.

More than just a competition

The campaign was not just about prizes. The collected PET bottles were sent for recycling and turned into materials that can be reused — for packaging or textiles. 

In this way, the project showed that a simple gesture while shopping can have a visible effect: less plastic thrown away, more material reintroduced into the cycle.
