A Good Day for Nature: the largest greening initiative on Via Transilvanica brought together over 3,300 volunteers
At the beginning of May, over 3,300 volunteers from Hunedoara, Caraș-Severin, and Mehedinți set off on Via Transilvanica with a clear goal: to clean up nature and protect the road that connects them. It was the largest environmental action to date on this route, organized in partnership with the Tășuleasa Social Association.
Over 2,700 students and teachers joined this initiative, along with parents, local authorities, and community volunteers. In just a few hours, they managed to collect over 16,500 kilograms of waste, covering approximately 1,000 kilometers of the route. Their effort was not only about cleaning, but also about responsibility, involvement, and care for the places we pass through.
Nature through the eyes of the children on Via Transilvanica – The Biodiversity Album
On International Biodiversity Day, May 22, we launched a collection of images captured by the children participating in the greening activities. Over 90 photos were entered in a contest launched especially for the students involved in the project, and 20 of them were selected to be included in this special digital album. Each photo is accompanied by a short description, offering a playful and sensitive perspective on the biodiversity of Via Transilvanica, as seen through the eyes of the new generation.
The album thus proves that when we give children the chance to get involved, they become true ambassadors of nature.
Education, involvement, change
Good Day on Via Transilvanica is not just a greening initiative—it is an awareness and education movement that grows year after year. Since 2015, together with the Tășuleasa Social Association, we have been supporting this project through educational workshops, volunteer activities, and activities in schools and communities, encouraging young people to discover nature, respect it, and contribute to its protection. Because what we learn today about care and responsibility is reflected in what we leave behind – for the generations that come after us.
